WHAT IS GASC?

The Georgia Association of Student Councils (GASC) is an organization dedicated to the development of student councils throughout Georgia.  GASC  provides opportunities for advisors and students to receive training while networking with one another, fostering  ideas to serve schools and communities. Through GASC's annual events, councils learn and grow together  by sharing these opportunities, fulfilling GASC's mission.

Each year, AHS Student Council renews their membership with GASC. This allows us to get involved with the State Service Project, Leadership Summit, Annual Convention, BLAST Camp, and so many other events! During all of these events, our student council representatives are exposed to various motivational speakers all geared towards one goal - enhancing student leaders!

In years past, Alpharetta High School has had the chance to hold positions on the GASC Executive Board including District 1 Representative and Parliamentarian.

  • Holding the position of District 1 Representative, this expanded opportunities for our students to organize an event for our district, leading workshops and icebreakers for all attendees. Duties included: assisting the Vice-President school with the recruitment of schools within the district, hosting a district rally at AHS including workshops for awards submissions, state service project, and others and promote GASC annual convention and other student council events. Additionally, our duties included communicating all GASC & student council information with district schools, attending a district representative meeting as scheduled, Leadership Summit, & GASC Convention, and lastly, providing feedback to the Executive Board based on regional needs.

  • In the position of Parliamentarian School, duties included: attending Executive Board meetings and GASC events, keeping a current version of the GASC Constitution and serve as protector of the Constitution, speaking on behalf of the Executive Board in questions concerning parliamentary procedure, notifying all member schools about qualifications and procedures related to running for a state office per the election policy document, act as sergeant-at-arms during elections and select an election committee per the guidelines in the Constitution and present workshops at Leadership Summit and other various GASC events to promote running for office.

If you have any questions about GASC or these events, feel free to contact any of the GASC Representatives by emailing alphastuco@gmail.com and place "GASC" in the subject line.
